Santiago Dunn, Executive President

Santiago DunnSantiago is a native of Guayaquil, Ecuador where he lives with his wife and three young sons. He graduated from Boston College with a BS in Finance and Economics and a minor in Marketing. He also earned a Master's Degree in Aviation from Condordia University in Montreal. His hobbies include traveling, scuba diving (especially in Galapagos) and playing tennis.

His goal for Ecoventura was not just to be part of the solution for the issues facing tourism in Galapagos, but also to inspire others. First, he worked with The Rainforest Alliance to develop the SmartVoyager program. As a result, the company was one of the first to certify their tour boats. It was a commitment to make costly improvements such as desalinating units and four stroke outboards at a time when tourism numbers were low, but it has since been all worthwhile. In 2006, Ecoventura became the first Carbon Neutral company in Ecuador. And in 2007, the company partnered with the World Wildlife Fund to create the Galapagos Marine Biodiversity Fund to raise funds for marine conservation and environmental education for local children.

In 2005, the Rainforest Alliance presented Santiago with its prestigious Individual Sustainable Standard-Setter award for making a significant contribution to environmental conservation and sustainability. In 2006, he was awarded by IGTOA with its first annual Sustainable Travel Award.

"We want to give our passengers the assurance that Ecoventura has taken every measure to ensure that passengers enjoy a safe, thrilling adventure without harming the unique wildlife or the fragile environment. We all live in this world and breath the same air, the least we can do is try to preserve it for our children and the generations to come."
